Pacific Whale Foundation includes a fuel-surcharge and a State Harbor fee on every ticket. Both of these are non-comissionable and absorbed in the tax portion of the total. Per person is as follows.
Adult fuel-surcharge & Harbor fee $3.96.
Paying Child fuel-surcharge & Harbor fee $3.51.

Pacific Whale Foundation are the eco-environmental leaders in Hawaii and non-profit. Who better to explore the world of the Humpback whale than with them? The staff members aboard each whale watch charter are all naturalist or marine biologists. All whale watches are 2 hours in length and depart from either Maalaea or Lahaina Harbors daily during whale watching season. The departure times begin at 7.00 am and continue through the afternoon to 5.00 pm. Pacific Whale Foundation affords a great whale watch for families as their fleet of catamaran are large and stable with plenty of room for movement. They will take you to the whales in comfort and provide a whale watch that will keep you returning to Maui every winter.

This boat is very fast and gets you to the whales in a hurry. Because of the speed of this boat you will spend more time whale watching than the larger boats. The Maui Nui Explorer zooms from pod to pod, which makes this adventure exciting. This charter departs daily from Lahaina starting 8.00am and continuing through the afternoon to 4.00pm with each whale watch 2 hours in length. This is a great whale watch; however it is not that child friendly.

The Pride of Maui whale watch features commentary by certified whale naturalists passionately describing whale behavior and their journey of life in the Pacific Ocean. Katie Velasquez is one of Maui's most educated, with over 15 years experience studying humpback whales, and certified by NAI (National Association for Interpretation). Katie is eager to share her vast knowledge and understanding of whale behavior. While checking-in at the harbor for your Maui whale watch, Katie displays whale articles to see and touch, including a life size whale tail, baleen, and whale tooth, while providing interesting facts about whales and whale watching on Maui. You will be treated to an educational and exhilarating Maui whale watching adventure. Join the Pride of Maui and be enriched, as you learn to love these beautiful marine animals.
The Boat:
The Pride of Maui is a 65' power catamaran equipped with 2 restrooms. There is a very large upper deck for viewing the whales. A large main cabin provides shade with viewing windows from the main deck area.
Refreshments:
The Pride of Maui offers BBQ hot dogs, chips and soda for purchase. Juice, soda, water beer and cocktails are also available for purchase.
A Photo ID is required for alcohol purchase.
Departure & Location:
The Pride of Maui departs daily from the Public Loading Dock at Maalaea Harbor. The departure time is 1.30pm. The return time is 3.30pm.
Closed on Sunday.

Due to rising fuel cost the Lahaina Cruise Company has added a $5.00 per person surcharge to each reservation.
The Princess fleet use several different vessels in their fleet for whale watching. The boat that provides the most comfort and best experience is the Kaulana. The Kaulana as all the boats in the Princess fleet depart from Lahaina Harbor. Each whale watch is 2 hours in length.
The early departs at 7:30am.
Regular departure times are at 9:45am, 12:00pm, 2:15pm.
All the Princess Fleet vessels large and stable in the water. They are family friendly and provide a good whale watch for a good price.
The Princess Fleet gives the Humpback Whale Sundays off. Because of that there is no whale watching with this vendor on Sundays.

Safari whale watches are sleek, quick and comfortable. All seats are cushioned captain chairs with a cup holder. Every seat has a 360 degree view. This adventure is great for the avid photographer or a family on a tropical safari. This charter has a large shaded area, a head and provides 1 soft drink per guest for free.
Times & Location
Safari Boat Excursions whale watching tour checks in and departs from Lahaina Harbor (behind Banyan Tree) slip 16.
There is only one whale watching charter available a day at 4.00pm. Check in is at 3.30pm. The return to Lahaina Harbor is 6.00pm.
Bring plenty of film and a taste for adventure as Safari Boat Excursions guarantees all their whale watches. The next on is free if no whales are seen. This is highly unlikely as there thousands whales in Maui waters during whale watching season.

Whale Tips
When is the best time to go whale watching? It doesn't matter as the whale has to surface for air every 30 minutes. We suggest the morning for whale watching because the waters are calmer and it's not as hot as it is in the afternoon.
All whale watches are guaranteed from December 15th through the season. The season ends on April 15th. This means that if you don't see a whale the charter company will give you another whale watch for free. This isn't likely to happen because there are over 700 Humpback Whales that call Maui their winter home every year. During the peak of the season you can see the whales from the shore, but it's hardly a whale watch. My favorite whale watches are when the boat is surrounded by whales and you just have to sit there until the whales feels he has had enough of people watching and departs.
Now that's cool!
Please remember that for the morning whale watches advance reservations are required. They do sell out daily.
